Allerpack

Updated: Jul 27, 2022

So yeah, I am absolutely buzzing to be writing this!

As those that follow me on social media will know, I have recently gone into business with the fantastic Dr Costa (@childrensallergy) and together we have created a range of insulated bags for the safe keeping of adrenaline.

Did you know that adrenaline degrades when exposed to temperatures below 15°C or above 25°C?

Well. I didn't until recently. This had never been a conversation that had come up in the 6 years that we have been prescribed adrenaline.

In fact, we were basically handed two pens and bid on our merry way after Teddy's anaphylaxis.

In 2019 I launched 'The Allergy Toolkit', where I sold personalised products to make living with allergies easier. Having children with allergies, I knew the importance of having easily identifiable, personalised items that were handy and 'pretty' enough to be carried around everywhere.

Having followed Dr Costa for a long time, I valued his advice and so sent a message about placing a piece of his advice onto one of my canvas bags.

Dr C contacted me and said, well firstly, 'absolutely!'

He then went on to educate me about how adrenaline should be kept in an insulated bag and asked me if I was aware that canvas bags are not the best day to day storage for AAI to ensure it stays within a safe temperature.

With this conversation, Allerpack was born!

As we are both parents of children with allergies, regardless of anything else, we understand the need to carry a bag that is simple, can be carried easily, keeps medication safe, is easily identifiable and keeps all the bits and bobs that we need to have on us at all times. We realised that there was nothing like this on the market.

After so many Zoom calls and emails exchanged, multiple designs edited and sent back to the manufacturer, we soon come up with a design that fit the criteria.

We have three insulated bags.

The first, the bum bag. This bag can fit two adrenaline auto-injectors, a 20ml bottle (also available on our website) of antihistamine, an inhaler and spacer. This is great for hands on and practical activities. Fab for schools and nurseries and other settings with children due to the ability to carry the medication handsfree. This bag is insulated too and also has a handy space at the back, big enough to fit a plus/max mobile phone, a key and bank card.

Next, the adults bag. This bag can comfortably hold two adrenaline auto-injectors, tablet antihistamine and an inhaler. This bag can also be personalised with our information cards, our cute badges are great to personalise the strap and there is a handy transparent sleeve at the back for your Allergy Action Plan.

Lastly, the children's bag. As the adults bag, it does all that good stuff, plus it can also fit a whole bottle of antihistamine and an inhaler spacer!

Thinking back to The Allergy Toolkit, Allerpack also sells the personalised canvas bags that were available on there.

These bags are perfect for antihistamine and inhalers and can be personalised with anything you like!

As you will know if you have followed the story of my family over recent years, allergies have played a big part in our introduction to parenthood. We have had to overcome many obstacles and allergies and asthma have massively influenced the decisions that we have made for our family.

Through social media and the local support group that I have run, I have tried to raise awareness for living with allergies and other atopic conditions and share our story over on socials and in the media to help other families to know that they aren't alone.

All of that taken into account, I hope it demonstrates the love and passion that has gone into this business.

Both Dr Costa and I hope that through the launch of our business, that we not only raise awareness for allergies but we also educate those that carry adrenaline into how they can keep their medication safe.
